This is the next opportunity to stock up on English books and at the same time support a good cause 🤩!

The entire proceeds of the sale will be used to benefit the people living in our partner communities in and around Ilembula, Tanzania. The money is sent to Ilembula via our registered charity HA-ILE e.V. which is dedicated to sponsoring both ongoing and new welfare projects in the IIembula district

The book sale will again take place in the excellent facilities kindly made available to us by kbo Isar-Amper Clinic in Haar.

No doubt you’ve been waiting for news about this year’s autumn book sale: don’t worry, you haven’t missed anything, this year we’ve not been able to get a slot in Haar for the Book Sale until late November. In other words there is still plenty of time to donate books for the Sale and to make lists of books you’d like to buy when you come.

There will as usual be thousands of high quality English books on offer from the latest novels to classics, thrillers and science fiction – plus a wide range of non-fiction to suit every taste and interest from art to zoology. And of course we will also be featuring our usual wide range of books for children, from toddlers to teenagers, plus a good selection of English DVDs. In addition to stocking up on reading matter for those long dark winter evenings at home, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing not only that the books you buy have all been recycled, but that every cent of the proceeds of the Sale helps to improve living standards for our partner communities in Tanzania (see Proceeds below).

Venue and Access

Thanks to the generosity of kbo Munich East clinic, we will again be holding the English Book Sale in the lovely Jugendstil Gesellschaftshaus (Meeting Hall) next to Café Jedermann in the grounds of the Isar-Amper-Klinikum, Ringstraße 36, 85540 Haar – and if you need a restorative after ploughing through the thousands of tempting books on offer, you can treat yourself to a welcome cuppa or an inviting snack at Café Jedermann just across the lobby.

The Sale will be held on the ground floor with good wheelchair access. There will be ample parking at the time of the Sale, but please make sure you park only on dedicated parking spaces – otherwise your parking fine might eat up all the savings you make on your book purchases. The clinic is only about 15 mins on foot from Haar S-Bahn Station (S6) and there is also a regular bus service (Nos. 230, 242, 243) from Haar station to the clinic (see attached map). After descending the steps from the S-Bahn platform, make sure you follow the appropriate signs in the passage below: one direction takes you to the bus stops and taxi stand, the other to the 15-minute walk to the clinic.
