   – Saturday  October 26, 2024 from 10am to 3pm

This is the next opportunity to stock up on English books and at the same time support a good cause 🤩!

Dear Friends of the English Book Sale
It’s autumn and it’s time for our next sale! It will again be taking place in the lovely hall (Gesellschaftshaus) in the grounds of kbo-Isar-Amper-Klinikum.

As usual we’ll be selling good quality English books and DVDs at competitive prices – and at the same time you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your purchases will help to improve the living standards of our partner communities in Tanzania (see Proceeds below)

There will be thousands of books and DVDs on sale, all in very good condition and ranging  from 50 cents to 5 euros.

Venue and Access

With the kind permission of kbo Munich East clinic we will again be holding the Sale in the lovely Jugendstil Gesellschaftshaus (Meeting Hall) next to Café Jedermann in the grounds of the Isar-Amper-Klinikum, Ringstraße 36, 85540 Haar – and if your head’s whirling and your feet are getting sore by the time you’ve searched through the thousands of books on offer, it’s only a short step across the lobby to a good cup of coffee or tea and a lifesaving snack at Café Jedermann in the same building.

The Sale is held on the ground floor with good wheelchair access. There will be ample parking at the time of the Sale, but please make sure you park only on dedicated parking spaces – otherwise your parking fine might eat up all the savings you make on your purchases. The clinic is only about 15 mins on foot from Haar S-Bahn Station (S6) and there is also a regular bus service (Nos. 230, 242, 243) from Haar station to the clinic (see attached map). After descending the steps from the S-Bahn platform, make sure you follow the appropriate signs in the passage below: one direction takes you to the bus stops and taxi stand, the other to the 15-minute walk to the clinic.

Book Donations

If you would like to donate books, please ensure that they are in English and in desirable condition. We would appreciate getting the books sooner rather than later so we have time to sort them! There are two mechanisms for handing in your donations:

  • Friday evening Oct. 4th and Oct. 11th: from 18:30 – 20:30 and Saturday Oct. 5th and 12th from 12:30 – 4:30 at our storage facility in the Blumenstrasse 3, 85540 Haar (basement, back of build entrance)  please text Kirsten Braun either via WhatsApp (01525 3482657) or by email (kfbee2015@gmail.com

  •
  • As from Monday, 21 October and during the Sale you will also be able to deposit books indoors in the foyer of Café Jedermann during café opening hours  (10-6 every day). We will clear the books at frequent intervals. Here again, if you have a large donation, please contact Kirsten Braun (see above) ahead of time.

 Proceeds

The entire proceeds of the Book Sale will be used to promote humanitarian projects in Ilembula, Tanzania, within the scope of the partnership between Haar and Ilembula which was initiated over 30 years ago and which nowadays operates through a specially formed registered charity: HA-ILE e.V.. If you would like to learn more about the activities connected with this initiative, you will find further details under www.ilembula.de.
